ANCIENT POTTERY EXPERIMENTS
by Experimental Archaeologist/Master Potter Graham Taylor
For me, the most exciting part of my work is the experimental archaeology.  Taking evidence of past technologies from archaeological excavations and trying to find out how they worked.  Building and firing kilns, emulating making techniques, testing clay sources, etc., all provide valuable information about past human behaviour.

In addition to my own ongoing research, I have worked on research projects with students from Newcastle and Durham Universities and assisted archaeological digs and museums with interpretation.
